Jeanne Saussy Wright, 77, of Savannah died, Thursday, July 23, 2026.

Jeanne Saussy Wright was born in Savannah on May 12, 1949, in Telfair Women’s Hospital. She was a gracious and serene daughter of Savannah all her beautiful life. Jeanne was the daughter of late Hunter Saussy Sr., and the late Maude Peeples Saussy. Jeanne was an exceptional person. Gifted intellectually she excelled academically: first, at Charles Ellis School, then, Savannah Country Day, then Saint Mary’s College in Raleigh, NC, and finally at the University of Georgia where she a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.

Jeanne made her debut in The Savannah Cotillion in 1966 and was active in the Junior League for many years. She married and remained active in worthwhile things. Jeanne worked at the Telfair Museum for many years. She was a successful real estate broker for several companies for decades. Jeanne was an accomplished ballet dancer in her youth and remained fascinated by the arts all of her life. She was a devoted member of her churches: Saint John’s Episcopal Church in her youth, then Christ Church Episcopal and Christ Church Anglican until her declining health prevented her from attending a few years ago.

Jeanne is survived by her husband of 25 years, Walter Wright; daughter, Jennifer Saussy Borden (Peter); two sons, James Hunter Denney (Kristina) and Gordon D. Denney (Debra) all of whom she loved dearly and was immensely proud; and eight exceptionally brilliant and beautiful grandchildren. 

Jeanne bravely battled Alzheimer’s Disease, often with stoic good humor to the end.

A memorial service will be held in Christ Church Anglican at 11:00a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2026, with Rev. Craig Stephens officiating.
